Sworn Vengeance (formerly known as Downshift) is one of the most brutal bands on the West Coast right now. A band that started out a fairly basic old school band, Sworn Vengeance has progressed enormously since their conseption in 1997. They now embrace a more technical and brutal approach to their music, while embracing a more menacing and angered spirit from within to guide them. I've heard them be compared to many different bands, from Biohazard and Chain of Strength to All Out War and Slayer, but I think they have, and still are, creating a sound more their own. With each live performance I am impressed more and more as they rise to new levels each time. They have played all over the West Coast, and have completed a couple East Coast tours, showing the entire United States that they are a force not to be reckoned with. If you're into heavy ass pissed off music, you're missing a lot if you haven't gotten into Sworn Vengeance yet.
Unfortunetly, Sworn Vengeance broke up in 2002. Some of their members have gone on to form First Blood.
